Next generation gaming? pt. 1

In this feature we will look at new technologies  that can be the next step for gaming and maybe for esports.
You might all know the Wii effect is causing alot of companies to focus on movement tracking of the actual gamers and giving them a whole other playing experience, but what about first person shooters ? Can they be improved for the esports world ? Can Counter-Strike, Call of Duty or Team Fortress become the next duck hunting or is all this technology making us lazy to use the 80 year old keyboard, maybe it was time to get something new? Then start giving some feedback on the following topic…

Next generation of gaming or something to get a stiff neck ?

The Australian researcher Torben Sko has been developing and improving several technique of  head tracking and using it to play games.
His latest study is based on the idea of traditional forms of interaction with computer games to be adapted through the use of unconventional, but affordable applications. For this he uses a simple webcam to track his head movements in using it on the Source Engine used for games such as Half Life 2 and Counter-strike souce, with off course the needed background software.  As demonstrated in the attached video the software recognizes the depth and the angle of your head making it possible to look around a corner or to focus  on your gun sight.

I will not write down everything he has researched and post you all about his scientific research and stuff just wanted to know, is this the future for shooters or is this a no go? Let us know !
