To read a full professional report of the event you can have a look at here. The Belgian representative for this IeSF meeting was no other then Steven ‘dfb’ Leunens, a key figure in Belgian and International Esports. In order of BESF he made this nice column/blog.

What’s more interesting for us is Kopitz’s words on his trip and some comments on that. Here a small interview and a pre-statement.

SR: Julien, now that you’ve returned, how do you feel 6 days later? Back in a normal or should we say a different world?

Well I feel pretty good! Thanks for asking! :)

Now to go on your question I won’t say you’re wrong. It’s a whole different world…. you come back from a country where people cry o for pictures and autographs and 1 day later you need to get used to the normal world you’re in. But I have to say that I’m pretty satisfies to be here since living at their rythm is exhausting!

What I mean by “a different world”;  should be that people have more respect over there… They take you serious when you’re talking about games and eSports… Here when you mention it you’re being called a NO-LIFER :-O. And of course the culture was so different, going from a different attitude to weird food :P

SR:  To talk about food, was it good? Aren’t you famished now?^^

Hehe, no it was pretty ok… Lovely breakfasts and all other meals were doable. Now it’s so that the FIFA players warned me that in China the food @ the WCG wasn’t that good so I was a bit scared.  But I couldn’t confirm on those comments since I ate well during my whole trip

SR: When you look back on the event, what marked you? How was the organisation of the event?

So let me sum up my trip from a to z in short. I’ll tell about the travelling and the event itself :) .

So when we arrived at Seoul and got out of the plane there was a lot of press, billboards everywhere…. We were received as real professional players!! After that we left the airport with some IESF bus to go to the hotel, once arrived there we were received once more as stars :) . Following to that we received our hotel keys and the rooms were spacious and we had internet and television etc…. everything I could have asked for.

Later on that evening the opening ceremony began and it was a huge thing! Some famous Korean bands did some music shows etc. I think it was some Tokyo hotel kinda group cuz the people were really shouting!

After the opening show there was the looting ceremony where I have to say i was happy with it so far since I was put as one of the favourites together with Sushi. Nevertheless the tournament didn’t went as I hoped. The seeds were really bad and so I came in this strong group where others had really easy ones. So that would be a negative point on the event itself.
Anyway after we knew who we should play we went to the “gaming room” where there was 1 pc for each player!!

Next day is there and there we heard that we’re not choosing maps -_-. Again all luck turned against me and the one being chosen was one of my worst maps  and probably one of the better ones of Sushilicious, my friend but also my opponent. That game resulted in a loss and even if I won to the other guy it wasn’t enough to go to the next round :( .

But I made the best of it and I met many other WC3 players and I also learned a lot about the BESF and IESF from Steven, <3 steven. After a long day of gaming I went to see the semi-finals on stage.

Remarking enough that no matter the game it was (fifa or wc3) there was always a big audience! Even some national television channel was there the follow everything! It was impressive!

Now the last evening we did a good party with my friends rotterdam, sushi, hasu etc. It was a short sleep as we took the plane afterwards back to Frankfurt and from there back to Brussels to go back home! A going-back flight that seemed being shorter :P

SR: Ok, thanks for the long text! Now next question: What did you expect before and how can you comment on your results after the event?

Well I hoped to pass the groupstages but when I saw the amount of good players being there my moral went down a bit but that didn’t last so long! Unfortunately bad luck once more on the maps which really made it terrible in this groupstage.

Now if I have to comment on my defeat, I have to admit that I was a bit nervous! The map didn’t help me at all and that really screwed up everything, and it’s not to search for excuses!

SR: Did you expect the level to be so high, and certainly more important: Can you  handle that level?

Well of course I expected a certain professional level there but a bit lower since the WEM were held at the same time and many pro’s would be there. but the level there was rather egal for all, everyone could have beaten each other I think. Including me!

but besides that I only ask to train! I’ll soon have my new pc and that will be for me a huge motivational boost to reach a higher level so I’m really ready for it!
SR: Would you do it again? why? what is the experience you got from it?

I really hope having the chance to go back next year but that time better prepared and attending it to win! But I really enjoyed it this year and I held good friends of it. I’ll now use those new relations and contacts I made to train with them and compete at this higher level.

SR: What are your plans for 2010, and how do you look back on 2009?

My plans for 2010 are pretty simple. I hope to participate in the next WC3L seasons and why not with a full Sypher squad, who knows!?! :) . but besides that I hope to win many online and offline events and who knows I’ll go on to Starcraft 2 when it releases.

2009 was a great year for me and getting in sypher was probably the best thing happening to my eSports career! And so I thank them for that as I’ll never be able to thank them enough! KISS KISS LOVE LOVE (K) (K) (L)(L)

SR.KOPITZ in KOREA

As we mentioned earlier here at team-sypher.org, our fresh WC3 player (Julien Dumoulin) participated at the Belgian Qualifier for the IeSF Challenge and he came out to be victorious for WC3.

Following to this he’s been awarded a 4 days on-location trip to South-Korea to participate in the prestigious IeSF Challenge.
In this coverage we’ll be giving you more information regarding what the IeSF is and about the event and venue. Also we’ll do a full event coverage when he’s there and KOPITZ will try to keep us updated on how things go there by a Blog.

As we said Julien is representing Belgium there with a friend for WC3. The other game being played there is Fifa and there we’ll see LLL player Geenens (4th at WCG) defending our title.

To start off with the coverage here a list of the attendees.

SR.KOPITZ wins Belgian iESF Qualifier

News of October 29th on www.besf.be

On november the 8th, BESF hosts a qualifier at Outpost, Antwerp. This qualifier is for a new International tournament runned by the International e-Sport Federation. Both the winner and the runner-up win a journey to South-Korea.

The tournament in Korea will last from 4 till december the 10th. Participants of the Belgian qualifier need to make sure they’re available during these days. Also they need to have a valid International Passport and a Belgian nationality to participate. The Qualifier will be held for Warcraft 3 and Fifa 09.

Now that is some news! And with a Warcraft player among us since short it was our mission to send him to this event! With all the support from Sypher and doing our best to get things in order (Fixing an International passport on 7 workdays when it usually takes 10 days is a hard job!). In the end everything went according to plan and on Sunday I could meet for the first time our new Sypher man!

After signing the contracts and handing over the SteelSeries products it was time for KOPITZ to try out his new gear and start warming up for his games. With only few people showing up for the qualifier (due to the International Passport) Julien had a rather easy job in Qualifying for this great event.
The matches were played in a group stage with each opponent facing each other twice. The players were:

be Julien  “KOPITZ” Dumoulin ( Sypher )
be Lieven “Orison” Tubbax
be Valentin “LoST_cAUze” Dotremont

KOPITZ managed to win against both opponents with 2-0 and once more 2-0.  Those scores made our player very happy as it are his first official results under the flag of Sypher. Winning this event means that we’ll bee seeing Julien in South-Korea soon in a special coverage item on the website! Julien will be making a blog item every day to keep all of you updated!

uk I’ve went to the event with a big surety on my results since I knew Fist wouldn’t be there. In the end I was right as the tournament went pretty good unlikely the few participants showing up. I’ve had some minor problems at the beginning to find my config but that didn’t cause any problems in my matches.  After that I managed to win all 4 games I was so happy with realising my dream: Playing against the best in Asia. To finish I would like to thank SYPHER, the staff and my friends but surely the Sypher management for helping me out in this to make it possible, without them I would have never know of it ^^. <3 fwiEt elae kami etc…”

Sypher starts up SR.WC3 – Welcome to KOPITZ

Today an epic journey begins for Sypher. It’s time to travel into the lands of Humans and Orcs while not to forget the Night Elves and the Undead. Sypher is proud to announce their first step into Warcraft 3.

While the Warcraft series have been going around for many years now and some of the Blizzard games are played by millions, Warcraft 3 knows it’s popularity mainly on the Asian continent and of course on a smaller European scene which ain’t left behind!” = ” Warcraft 3 knows it’s popularity is mainly on the Asian continent and of course on a smaller European scene which ain’t left behind! But In Belgium we can’t really see it as the most popular game. The Netherlands have their All-Stars but Belgium only has a few selected ones.

In an attempt to bring WC3 more up to the front in our local scene we thought it was time to give a chance to one of Belgium’s finest players. We would like to welcome an announce Julien ‘KOPITZ’ Dumoulin as our first addition into our new gamesection.

Julien fights in the top of Belgium’s WC3 players with players like [aAa]Beez and sTa|FisT. Julien will be representing the name of Sypher in all 1on1 LAN and Online tournaments from this day on.

KOPITZ currently participates in the weekly ZOTAC cups, in the latest one he got out in the second round vs Moonfans (WC3L Player). Besides many other 1on1 leagues his focus will also lay on the EPS if WC3 gets selected. More information regarding current competitions and a review of the latest results will be given in a special feature on our site next week alongside an interview with his manager and kopitz himself.

Here a little word from KOPITZ

English version

Hi all! After not representing an organisation for several months, I crossed the way of Sypher. I’m really delighted to be part of this team, after I talked to the leading persons here, this team/organization really shows a stability which should be an example for many. In the end it’s this atmosphere and stability I was looking for and I couldn’t decline such an offer. Because of this I’m sure that cooperation will allow me and Sypher to develop in this RTS scene in Belgium and Europe.

I would like to end with a thanking towards the sypher managers to give warcraft an opportunity like this in Belgium! And I can only (and will) do my best to proove they were right to give me this trust!
